    I tried to warn you!

    So what happened…. Pace and Zander are working on fixing up the StarScavenger. Zander is manning the magnetic crane with one of the blaster turrets while Pace is directing him where to put it. Something happens and the crane shuts down (I’m thinking something like a minor power fluctuation), causing the turret to fall on top of Pace. There’s really nothing that Zander can do except watch his dad die.

    I’m thinking that Zander eventually starts screaming for Roger, but by then, it’s too late. Kordi saw a little bit of the aftermath before she was shooed away by Roger, but she doesn’t really know what exactly happened. And Rowan was only like three at the time, so he doesn’t remember any of this.

    (I originally had it where Zander presses the wrong button and causes the accident, but that was too sad, even for me. So I changed it.)

    Zan feels as though it’s partly his fault and wishes he could have done something, even though he knows that he couldn’t have, realistically. It takes a long time for him to allow anyone but himself to man the magnetic crane, and he always ALWAYS double checks to make sure it’s safe.

    Naare did a lot more damage than she initially thought! And yes, I felt as though Kordi needed to comfort him a little bit since she couldn’t really at the moment it happened.

      Okay that's painful. That's absolutely painful. The fact that Zander saw it all. Perfect recipe for trauma. To be honest this is one of my absolute favourite headcanons/ideas when it comes to what happened to Freemaker's parents. And OH MY GOD, the original idea where Zander pressed the wrong button which caused the accident. YEAH THAT'S SAD. No wonder he blamed himself, even though it wasn't his fault.

      Definitely love the lore you created for Zander. And the fact that he's so paranoid when it comes to that crane that he always checks and is always as careful as possible, not even trusting others to use it. If I remember correctly, in the show (I think it was Zander's Joyride episode) Rowan uses the magnetic crane. Good thing Zander wasn't there to see that :'D Anyway kudos for you! Love your ideas!

        Yeah. This whole thing started when I was rewatching the episode where they have to sacrifice the StarScavenger to try and stop M-OC (that scene gets me every. Single. Time). Zander seems to get the most broken up over it, and you have Kordi looking like she’s going to say something to comfort him before Roger bursts in. My angst-loving brain decided to explain that, and thus, I figured out how Pace died.

        Zander is probably my favorite (sorry, Ro), and I feel like he gets shoved under the rug the most out of the siblings. Which is fine. He’s the one who’s the most constant throughout the whole show, so he doesn’t feel like he needs that much development character-wise. I should probably back off of him some though, because…yeah. Sad.

          That scene is always so heartbreaking even though it's literally "just" a ship that they can rebuild and they do that in another episode. But I just love the Star Scavenger in general and maybe it's just me, but I much more prefer the original version that the fusion with what was left from the Arrowhead. It's just a good design. But now your headcanon makes it even more sad ow-

          Yeah I think I get that. I did struggle a bit whenever I tried to write something for him. It always comes easier for me when I write about Kordi or Rowan. But Zander is a great character regardless!

          Oh my god, I didn't really see it yet, but I'm already scared a- :'D

            I know! I always feel like my heart is breaking at that part. And you can tell they went all out on that scene too. The music, the visuals, the acting, all of it is just *chef’s kiss*. Beautiful.

            Rebuild the Galaxy dropped on YouTube a few days ago. About halfway through it, and just gotta say…I’m getting some serious Freemaker vibes from the mc. This will be fun! :))
