I'm really curious about what Master Jorbelox did before ending up in Mechanicsburg. It sounds like it was pretty bad, but on the other hand he did end up working for one of the popes in the comic after the boys chased him off, so maybe it wasn't all THAT bad.
True enough, but there's also reputation to consider. The popes are still supposed to be a 'symbol' of goodness in this world, since their support is considered a requirement (by some) to claim the Storm Crown, and even in this AU they canonized Theodora as a saint for defying Saturnus and making the Boys a force of good.
And yet one of them was willing to hire a monster who gladly worked as the Mechanicsburg Monsters Guild Master, was famous for defying the Heterodyne Boys and breaking Bill's arm, never seemed to display any remorse for the act, and seemed to believe in some inherent 'evil' will of monsters that would return the Guild to the city. It's just an odd choice for a personal monster.
