>>> You know what else is really funny in this context? Rhodey literally does not try to interfere with the military operation when he finds out that Tony in the suit was caught by a group of fighter jets. Rhodey covers for him when the plane goes down, but still condemns him and demands compensation from him. Rhodey literally fights with Tony when he thinks that Tony has played around with the suit and is behaving unsafely. Rhodey testifies against him (albeit with a note, dear Senator, do not take it out of context). Rhodey is a friend, and a friend does not have to agree with you on everything or lose critical thinking and his own opinion. Otherwise, it would be somehow not cool. <<<
Yeah, the Marvel cinematic TPTB do a lot of things poorly when it comes to friendship. It's very frustrating, because you're right: friends don't have to agree with you on everything, and they shouldn't if you're wrong. That being said, in the IM movies, Rhodes is a jerk a lot of the time to Tony and never gets called out for it, and some of those instances deserve a kick to the groin while Tony's wearing the suit. But like I said, the writers did a very, very bad job of displaying any kind of friendship in the movies.
