Comment on The Howler from the Void

  1. I just binged this in one sitting and I wanna say how much I love this!

I adored the beginning logs and code strings not only telling us the story of what happened but also him loosing touch of reality by the end of it.

Also love that you don't break everything down into 'human relevant' terms when writing from the Fyrix pov, the context is plenty to peice things together with and I love the world building of it all

Poor guy is just kinda insane, making up characters and stories to keep himself somewhat sane, he even uses different voices for them!

The movie style script for his point of view with the characters going through a version of the experiments he's undergoing is so good ahhh

Gotta love our little xenobiologist just having an absolute field day with this, I can't believe she's almost able to properly communicate with our poor guy oh man

    1. Thanks!
Making aliens seem sufficiently alien while still being understandable by human readers is a bit of a challenge, but I'm really careful to avoid anything quintessentially human.

I was a little worried that Eigen's sections would come off as confusing or unpleasant to read, but having his entire point of view being formatted as a screenplay felt like a good way to illustrate how out of touch he is by having it literally in a different format. Also it felt like it fit this kind of, "Director" role that he's playing inside his own mind. I'm glad you like it.

      1. Gosh I spent a large chunk of today reading through your Unprofessional Conduct works because I really do like your written style and wanted more bug aliens (it didn't disappoint!!! I loved those all too!)

But this one has still been itching my brain and it just hit me, our xenobiologist here is the doctor that was uncovering the logs in chp 1 (yes I know that's pretty clear but it just clicked what then ment for the story) she's gonna find out about it all and that opens so many doors I can't wait to see what happens and where this all goes ahhh

    2. Oh yeah, I especially liked how this xenobiologist was the only one who managed to attract the necessary attention of human... because she is not so similar to the rest of the cold-silent-bugs and thought of using verbal communication in a complex! :D
