Suppose something unexpected is sent to "Harry"? Such as notice of his emancipation, or a sack of galleons? Harry will never know about it because he wasn't expecting to see it and Albus never told him.
It's easy enough to send a Gringotts owl with a letter addressed to Harry that is delivered to Albus, to fool Albus in some way. Otherwise, Harry should read Harry's mail, or Harry should pay Gringotts to screen Harry's mail for nasties. If Albus is receiving all of Harry's mail, including his Gringotts statements, there can be only one reason why (regardless of whatever Albus's stated excuses are): Albus wants to keep Harry ignorant. An ignorant boy is easily manipulated, especially if he is ignorant of his rights and wealth.
