I love Rinzler's POV here, it's so fun, and the plot jumpstarts IMMEDIATELY we get a little rest with them getting Usered-up (and it's fun!) and then SOMEONE decides to steal the entire Grid and uhh did they DESTROY THE LASER??? EEK!
"Removing said helmet required power tools and Rinzler spent the entire time waiting for them to accidentally cut his head open with the circular saw and kill him, but fortunately there was at least a passable amount of competence with all of the Users working together and Rinzler was spared from a gruesome and extremely stupid death." I was immediately reminded of Scars here, even if Rinzler doesn't exactly remember Dyson's treatment I'm sure there's trauma there as to why he'd be worried by this. Also everything with him adjusting to not wearing a helmet all the time is great!
the helmet thing reminded me of a fic that lives rent free in my head where they take rinzler out of the grid and the helmet ends up air tight and poor rinzler starts suffocating rip
i do love that the users were prepared with power tools and shears XD
