Comment on Heart of the Sun

  1. Not bad, can't wait for the infiltration part 2. Say, how would this story affect the Rivals games? Would Blaze alter something in her past to change Silver's future?

    1. So the bluntest answer I can give is that it won't affect Sonic Rivals, because it and any other game post-Sonic 06 wouldn't exist...or play out the same way in a sense. Canonically those games exist because of the reset-ending of Sonic 06. This rewrite ends differently, so the subsequent games realistically wouldn't happen. Not to mention, I'm treating this as the conclusion of Sonic's story in the same way how Sonic Adventure 2 was originally going to be the end of the Sonic franchise due to the closure of the SEGA Genesis. Hence why Sonic here is presented as being almost tired of going back and forth with Eggman for so long without proper change. Which is something the games usually don't explore, like how the previous games and his adventures would generally affect his psyche. So, unlike the OG 06 game, this rewrite Sonic won't have a flat character-arc

Now, if there was going to be a sequel to this (it'll probably be two) it won't follow Sonic and Blaze as MCs. I would like if they follow Shadow and Silver in their indiviudal stories alongside their co-leads/love interests that are set up in this story. Those will take inspiration from the canon-games that came after Sonic 06. But alas, I'm getting way ahead of myself.

      1. What do you mean MCs?

        1. MCs is the abbreviation for "main characters"

          1. Right. Where did you find Sonic's arc and original ending of Sonic Adventure 2?

            1. Correction on my end: it was the SEGA Dreamcast that was discontinuing, not to the SEGA Genesis.

So between 1998 to 2001, the Dreamcast was the new console for SEGA that Sonic games were being distributed through, with Sonic Adventure 2 being the final game for it. However, it became a commercial failture and was the cause for why SEGA withdraw from making anymore consoles, and then moved to multi-platform distrubution. And because of this commerical failure and with Sonic Adventure 2 being the Dreamcast's final game, many in Sonic Team thought it was the end, so Sonic Adventure 2 was written in a way that if the franchise was to come to an end because of the Dreamcast's discontinuation, at least it would end in a satisfying way (here's a video explaining it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UThnM3dgb-U&ab_channel=TheZmanShow).

In regards to the "Sonic's arc and original ending of Sonic Adventure 2" question, I was making a comparison. Just how Sonic Adventure 2 was originally being treated as the final Sonic game at the time, I am treating Heart of the Sun as if it was the final Sonic story (considering we're dealing with an entity that wants to destroy all of time. It's quite cataclysmic). Thereby, I'm giving him a character arc which he didn't have in Sonic 06. Basically, what I'm saying is, you don't need to worry about the continuity of the subsequent canon-games because it won't really matter as the ending would be different from OG 06s ending

              1. You know for my character development for Sonic; he should understand what love really means to him. Amy has her mania which is obsessive love, but should show a little ludus, that's playful love. Pragma is enduring love which would be perfect for Sonic and Blaze. And also, he should finally learn to actually swim.
