   ..he wasn’t collected and put together like Uhura was. If that was what Spock looked for in a partner, Jim wasn’t it.

   I THINK what Spock looks for in a partner is a challenge. He doesn't understand just playing a game if you have the chance to win when there is an available option of the uphill battle of improvement through losing. He definitely did not become a science officer in space because space science is 'collected and put together'.

      Yeah, Jim’s only frame of reference for Spock’s relationships is Uhura. What Jimmy notices about Uhura is that she is ultra competent and put together. Thus, his assumption.
      I’d say Spock is definitely attracted to people who challenge him. I think he’d be bored in a relationship where his partner couldn’t keep up.
