    starving in the shadowlands is beyond ripe for character exploration and wringing someone open to the marrow, and it's such a shame we've been robbed of it in the story proper - but hey! that's what fic is for! no better backdrop to set development and getting-together in than when everything is spiraling back and forth without ever breaking apart lmao
