I wouldn’t say that Tappei is ignoring how his world works. It’s more like he already has the lore drops about it planned out, and we just aren’t at that point in the story yet. In a QnA, he said that what Reinhard saw while on the moon was “very interesting” and that he can’t reveal it now because that would be a spoiler. He obviously plans on getting to it eventually or else he wouldn’t say that it’s a spoiler.
