  1. Oh, Gizmo has a Cube Wisp buddy. Nnneat. Are you going to name him or...?

Hopefully this doesn't give Eggman any Nega-Wisp-esque ideas when he gets his memories back, that could end poorly. The Void Wisps showing up in Forces despite them all being purified in Colors' ending was a glaring enough plothole.

Moving along into Issue 7 now, so we're about 1/3 of the way through the Neo Metal Saga, counting the T&W miniseries, which I do. Yes I've mentally broken up IDW into four sagas at this point, since it looks like 81 is gonna essentially be the start of a new saga now that the Mimic plot thread is wrapped up, and probably the final saga before the inevitable Frontiers timeskip. That's a tangent for later, though.

    1. I actually do have a name picked out for him! It'll come up next chapter. He spends the vast majority of the time in Gizmo's Wispon, but figured it'd be a good time for him to come out at least for a little bit.

Yeah, I always thought that was pretty weird. But then again, you don't unlock the Void Wispon until after you beat the final boss, so I saw it as more of a bonus inclusion. I'd argue what's more glaring is the fact Void Wispons were used in IDW Sonic #2 during Riverside's defense, since it's been established Wispons are useless without their respective colored Wisps. How could those things work if Violet Wisps have all been purified?

But yes, moving on now. Four main sagas is a pretty fair division of the IDW canon so far. I have been re-reading and all now that I have the big collection books that pack in the annuals and mini-series. I'll make nods to them at the least if I end up not involving Gizmo in them. I haven't completely decided yet, since my plans for this series are more fast and loose compared to Miles the Fox. I've "only" made notes for up to the end of the Metal Virus Arc and a smidgen into Impostor Syndrome (mostly involving a certain pair of cyborgs).

      1. Maybe some of them decided they liked being Nega Wisps and stayed that way for some ungodly reason? I dunno, that's the best I got.

Yeah, four sagas: Neo Metal Saga (1-12, T&W), Metal Virus Saga (13-32, Warp Topaz special), Starline Saga (33-56, Bad Guys, Impostor Syndrome, Scrapnik), and Diamond Cutters Saga (57-80?). I know IDW officially considers 57-61 to be part of the third saga and not the fourth, but the formation of the new Diamond Cutters team makes it feel much more cohesive with the fourth saga imo, since Mimic was a major focus of said saga. And I'm assuming 81 (and Chasing Shadows if it ever comes out) will be the start of the fifth saga, whatever that ends up being. That's my take on it anyway.

        1. Yeah, who knows?

I like this take. I didn't consider T&W part of Neo Metal at first, but after a couple reads, I came to see it as something of an epilogue arc. And yeah, I agree, New Diamond Cutters felt more appropriate as a starting point for the fourth saga than a capstone for the third.
