Y'know what, that's fair, I get how that might be frustrating.
If I'm honest, there is a few reasons why I'm doing it: First, while some parings are set in stone, there are a few 'maybes' that are in the air based on how I feel when I actually get to the romance part, which is not going to be soon, I've got a lot of story to go before then. SO I don't really want to commit to them until I get there. Second, is a kinda petty one, which is that like people speculating, its fun to read people trying to figure out where my stories are going, and how close or far they get, and even perhaps steal an idea or two from their speculation, if I like it just as much or more then my idea. I like the social aspect of writing stories online. Third, and this is more a vibes thing, is that despite this being a story with romance in it, this isn't really a ship fic, I intend this story to be more about Louise's personal journey, and while that will eventually result in her engaging in a romantic relationship with multiple people, it won't be the central focus of the story for quite some time, and I'm afraid that if I draw too much attention to the relationships she is going to be in like 50+ chapters (rough estimate), it will take people out of the here and now, and just have people asking "When is the romance going to start?" and "When is 'X' character going to appear?" Fourth reason is because I originally posted this on fanfiction, and they have much less character tag space, so I decided to just, ommit the information to make things simple, and I carried it over here for the sake of consistency.
Maybe when I actually get into the romance arc, I'll post the relationships on Ao3, but for now, I'd mostly just prefer people focus on what the story is now, rather then what the story might be later.
That's totally fair. Thanks for answering.
Kinda expected the romance aspect to be more important, considering that almost half of the additional tags are related to it.
I'd have written "Relationship Tags will be added as the become relevant" instead of "won't be tagged, because I want them to be a surprise" but I guess that's a holdover from FF as well.
Also a fair point, I'm honestly pretty new to posting on this website, although I've lurked before, so I mostly just added any tag I could think of that would be relevant, and added a few custom ones for my own amusement (Mostly the 'Louise is lost in the closet, somebody help her', although those will probably be more relevant sooner, because I think I will be playing up Louise's repressed Lesbianism in a few gags before I get to exploring it seriously in the lead up to the romance part of the story). But now I look at it, you are right, About 7-8 of the 20 additional tags are to do with her eventual relationships (one more if you include the 'Everybody's gay in Gensokyo' tag, which I personally don't. its more a Fandom meme, and a worldbuilding cue).
Not sure on what they would be, but Should I try adding more non romance tags?
Also, just to be clear, because looking back my wording might have been misleading, the romance will eventually be important, and likely the central part of the story when I get to that story Arc, its just not going to be for quite a while. This will be a romance story, just not right now, and not forever, since the story will not end when the courtship concludes, unlike most romance I read.
Good. I hate stories that go "They are in a relationship now, THE END". We want to see them interact as a couple/polycule after all. And for more tags, I can think of some, like, you said that the story is going to be mostly episodic? That could be a Tag? Just try to avoid Tag bloat. That makes it difficult to figure out what the story's going to be about, which is what tags are there for.
Well, AO3 has significantly more space to write a description. I've seen people that crosspost use the same Description for both AO3 and FF but then use the extra space on Ao3 for an additional, more thorough description. If you think that the current description explains what your story is about well, then there's no real need to change anything.
