With a comment this concise Im almost obligated to make a Part 2 haha! Anyways, yeah it would pretty much a mess in Canon if Lin was Zukos daughter, though I reconcile that with the reason why Mai isnt there in TLOK. Regardless thats just my speculation.
Also, i actually didnt plan of Suyin being in the picture in this AU sorry! As you said it would be drama central and also the age difference between them would be too great than it was in canon.
