This writing style has a sense of elegance that compels me to keep reading. You've captured my interest, and perhaps even motivated me to start writing some stories of my own. I'll be waiting eagerly for more of this story (even though I'm only on 6 out of 11 available chapters, as of now). The way you're constructing these relationships out of respect and admiration seems quite pleasing so far, but I would love to see them get closer as time passes. A note that I do have though is on how Hadrian is going to treat tradition overall. Is he going to respect all old and noble traditions and defend them, or is he going to focus on those that magic dictates and try to reform the magical society around those, speaking out against the more nonsensical practices? I'm not trying to criticise or order you to do anything (because that would just be plain rude) but the latter would seem both the better way to take it and the path that would most naturally follow from how he has passed through his magical life so far.
I wish you well with your writing, I can't believe that this is your first fic!
