Summary
Thing is, they’ve never been able to fuse before. They’ve tried, so many times. Jeremy couldn’t count on one hand the number of instances where they’ve awkwardly danced in his bedroom or bound themselves together, sometimes with literal rope, trying to fuse.
Their first attempt was in the sixth grade, it’s been five years. At some point in between they just accepted that they couldn’t. That fusion was just a trick they’d never be able to master.
And here they are.
