Summary
It starts after Devon. Buck can still feel the cold of the rollercoaster track, his knuckles white as he grips it tighter, reaching down as close as he can. Take my hand. Please take my hand. I won’t let you fall, I promise. But it never matters how much he pleads. Devon lets go, every time. His eyes are fixed on Buck as he falls, down, down, down, and just before he hits the ground Buck claws his way back to consciousness, grasping at the covers on his bed, heart hammering so fiercely he thinks it might break through his ribs.
Buck knows he can’t save everyone, but it doesn’t stop the nightmares. Set during Season 1 and early Season 2.

“Buck.” Bobby is standing too; Buck sees the way his hand twitches, as if he wants to reach out and catch Buck’s arm but thinks better of it. “Buck, hold on.”
He isn’t sure why he listens. Maybe it’s the part of him that’s still a firefighter, following commands from his captain. Maybe it’s the part of him that wants to make a scene, wants to face off against the hurt and the betrayal and yell until it fixes itself. Maybe it’s the part of him, the rational part he doesn’t really want to listen to, that wants an explanation. Maybe it’s the part of him that just doesn’t want to be alone.Fix-it fic for 3x04. Buck finds out Bobby is the one stopping him from being a firefighter again; they talk it out.

Summary
Buck’s jaw clenches. He turns his head away, but not before Bobby sees the glimmer of frustration in Buck’s eyes. “I’m sick of this,” he mumbles. His voice is thick, catching on the words.
“I know, kid.” Bobby rests a hand on Buck’s shoulder and squeezes. Buck leans into the touch, and Bobby pretends he doesn’t notice him sniffing.Bobby tries to help Buck as he recovers from the ladder truck incident.
