In a casual AU, post-Valentine's defeat, Steven Steel has created his own independent racing venue separate from the Steel Ball Run competition. Gyro and Johnny have taken a break from racing to tend to personal affairs, so Diego and Hot Pants are the only familiar faces among an entire wave of new racers. The two become unlikely friends.
In Chapter One, the two have just lost a race to the same new guy for the fifth time. They waltz into a bar to face their defeat and drink their feelings.
