They looked utterly incongruous in the ruins that remained of the Dreaming’s palatial heart after its ruler’s decades-long absence. They had been waiting for him there, or, more accurately, had appeared there through some means that even he, Dream of the Endless, could not fathom. Lucienne had had no answers to suggest either, but had offered to send a thank-you card, to match the small hand-written message that had come along with the flowers.
