Summary
Her thighs burn and her lungs heave for air, but she needs to move faster. The day is slowly disappearing behind the buildings of her city, and it’s harder to protect herself in the dark.
“There”, she whispers, slowing to a stop when she sees the mall. Large and white and rusting, but it still holds the supplies she needs.
Tikki looks up from her backpack as the wind harshly blows dust up in the air.
“It is brewing up for a storm tonight”, she says, blue orbs fixed on a dark horizon.
“Yeah?” asks Marinette as she steps off the bicycle, trying to decide the best placement of such an important part of her escape.
Tikki nods. “They tend to go inside then.”
“They do”, Marinette agrees.
