Summary
Hannibal may have allowed himself to be captured, but he did so with the knowledge that Will would always know where he is. He is right where he needs to be when the profiler needs him.
Once settled into the Baltimore Hospital for the Criminally Insane, he finds he has the compulsion to write to Will, reach out to ensure they’re still connected, and keep himself in the forefront of the profiler’s mind.

Summary
As year two of Hannibal's incarceration ensues, Will confesses something to him that throws him over the edge of desperation. Unconvinced that ignoring his feelings for Will is the right course of action, Hannibal continues to write with the hope that Will, his silence now broken, will choose to keep up with his previous responses.
Will has found someone new to cling to in his attempts to heal from Italy. But with Hannibal unwilling to let their connection dissolve, he must decide if he can continue to hold out on his own tumultuous emotions... or if giving in to his desires proves to be what sets him free.
