Essik clears his throat. “Good evening. Would you like to come in?” He opens the door wider.
“Yes.” Caleb says, shouldering his way in, barely brushing Essik’s side. “It wouldn’t do well for us to work on dunamancy right at your doorstep, would it?”
“No, of course not.” Essik says quietly, moving to the front and leading the way to his study. “Unless you’d like to get in trouble with the Bright Queen.”
“I don’t think I would be the one in trouble.”
Essik looks back sharply at Caleb over his shoulder but the man just smiles. Essik turns back, feeling something warm unfurl in his chest.

Summary
Caleb wakes up slowly, comfortable in a way he hasn’t been for weeks now. It takes him a moment to figure out exactly where he is but then sensation hits — the pleasant warmth, the soft sheets against his skin, the light sea breeze coming in from the half open window.
Nicodranas. The Lavish Chateau. The first time they’ve been able to relax and properly rest in a week. Right.
Caleb opens his eyes and blinks at one corner of the room dazedly, half annoyed. He finally has an opportunity to sleep in and his body decides to wake him up early instead.

Summary
Caleb makes him feel good. No one has ever done that to him before, not unless they wanted something from him back. Caleb does it just 'cause. Just because he wants to see Fjord like that, in the throes of pleasure. Just because he wants to feel the satisfaction of being the source of Fjord’s pleasure. Just because he wants to give him something nice.
It's incredible. It makes his heart hurt and his teeth ache and his eyes sting.
So he doesn't get why they've been in bed for what feels like more than half an hour now and Caleb's touches remain light and his kisses remain shallow and his hands still haven't drifted below his torso.
