Seeing Subaru’s greed on full display like this is such an appealing concept. In canon, we only really see himself end a timeline for the death of one person twice, and both of those are Rem. Seeing such an aspect of Subaru manifesting beyond somebody he may love romantically is fascinating. Julius & Felix are just. Fantastic. Kudos to the author for such rich characterization.
As for the second fic, getting to focus on Felix in a non-comedic way is such a treat. He’s mostly not really portrayed that seriously despite, like. Being the top Healer in the entire Kingdom + the Knight of a Royal Candidate. Felix being suspicious about Subaru’s RBD knowledge is such a nice flavoring ontop of this dynamic they have to make it extra complex.
Codas’s focus on the aftermath of timelines where Subaru dies & yet the world continues marching onwards is super interesting. Reinhard in this is particularly complex as we do actually see him exhibit possessive traits now that most of his friends are dead but one. Crush’s confusion is rather visceral & yet she tries to be compassionate anyways despite her lacking an identity. Emilia’s. Just. Ouch. Self-blame is quite potent there in every scenario Subaru dies.
