Hitoshi knows there's something wrong with himself before he's even old enough to have a sense of self. He looks at his reflection and knows that the infant looking back at him isn't what he should be seeing.
His dreams are a maelstrom of grief and fear, his mind overwhelmed with a lifetime of emotions his brain isn't developed enough to comprehend. There's an ingrained instinct blaring that everything is wrong wrong wrong.

Summary
It takes a village to raise a kid. Hatake Kakashi may be a child again, but he lost his own village years ago. As Shinsou Hitoshi, he has little interest in finding another family. It's never ended well in the past, after all. But somehow, he's still managed to end up with two Pro Heroes in his life that care way too much about him. It's... surprisingly nice.
Letting himself care about them in return is a bit more daunting, though.

“So,” Nedzu says pleasantly, “you’re Shinsou Hitoshi?”
“That’s ridiculous,” Aizawa states. He crosses his arms across his chest, eyeing Hitoshi through his hair with an unreadable expression. “They don’t even look alike.”
Hitoshi fidgets uncomfortably in the seat across from Nedzu’s desk. What is he supposed to say? Nothing’s made any sense since last night. Everything’s changed around him, and now there’s a boy claiming to be him – who everyone seems to believe is the real Hitoshi – sitting on Aizawa’s other side.
But… he barely even resembles Hitoshi. His hair is silvery-white instead of purple. His right eye is violet like Hitoshi’s, but the left eye is red instead with an odd dotted pattern in it.

When Shouta first opens his eyes, he’s not quite sure what happened or where he is. The light streaming in through a window suggests it’s midday, but the last thing he remembers is being out on patrol in the middle of the night.
He pulls out his phone to check the time, but it’s not his phone. No… it’s one of his old phones. He’s pretty sure he broke this one in a fight. Yet here it is, working fine sans a few cracks in the screen.
The date on the lock screen is wrong. The year is even more wrong. He checks his texts, the internet, his emails, just in case Hitoshi decided to play some sort of prank on him, but everything he can find lines up with the year emblazoned on the calendar.
Shouta is ten years in his own past.
