A series of snapshots featuring Laura, one of Hoenn's strongest (and most controversial) trainers.

Notes:

Hoenn Memories and its sister work Delta Emerald are part of an ongoing love letter I've been writing to the Hoenn games, featuring an OC I've had since I was little. Hoenn Memories follows my OC Laura's journey and draws more from the original games, while Delta Emerald follows a later character and draws more from ORAS.

HM takes place in a Hoenn both similar and different to the one in the games. Professor Birch is in college, getting his PhD in Pokémon, so Hoenn doesn’t have a resident Pokemon professor yet. The Pokedex as we know it won’t be invented for a few years yet (not until after the events at Sootopolis), but new trainers are occasionally given similar (but more primitive) devices, field guides, etc to help them on their journeys. A lot of the gym leaders are different, because the people we know as Hoenn's gym leaders are still too young.
