Summary
There's real trouble in paradise when John demands Arthur treat him with the same sort of kindness he shows to horses; Arthur don't see it that way. Written as a surprise Christmas present for the fabulous Helvel.

Arthur’s returning the brush to his saddlebags, hung over the side of the stable beside her tack, when he hears the derisive huff of air from John. “Got a problem, Marston?” he calls out, lashing down the last buckle before he glances that way.
“You ever hear yourself?” is his commentary, arms crossed over the stall door as he looks in. “Talkin’ all sweet like that to horses? Folk’ll think you’re sweet on them.”
Arthur turns to face him, brow arched up at the scoffed words. “The hell you goin’ on about?”
John’s scowling, a hand jerked towards Bo’ in irritation. “Callin’ her darlin’?” he mutters. “You treat that horse better‘n you treat me.”

Summary
John turns the table after the stables incident, sees Arthur captured and trussed up for his liking; trouble is, he's not so good with knots and that table? It's about to be turned again and there's a lesson what'll await him when that happens.

Spitting out dirt and grass when he lifts his head, Arthur’s trying again to roll aside, kick off the rope, but Marston ain’t giving him no slack. He keeps pulling it tight to hold the tension and tugging it to keep him off balance. “The hell you think you’re doing, Marston?” he demands, hands digging into the earth to stop from being dragged back by the next insistent tug.
“Ain’t it obvious?” John mulls, boot pressed down on Arthur’s side. He pushes his luck by his chuckle, then kicks him back down into the dirt, drops his knee hard in the middle of his back to pin him there.
“Obvious that you’s of a mind to get your ass beat halfway through Sunday,” he spits back, pushing up against his weight. John grabs his arm at the elbow, pulls it back behind him and the plan, in all its half-brained glory, comes clear in his head.
