Mayor Gabriel Agreste has quickly taken up allyship with Paris’s newest quasi-hero, Hawk Moth. To the standard citizen, this looks like a good decision — after all, who else will fight against the tyranny of the Guardian, a mysterious figure who threatens the whole world with unspeakable power?

Marinette Dupain-Cheng throws a wrench into this with some vigilante justice — under her secret identity, Ladybug, of course. With her partner, Chat Noir, she has to fight off the danger that Hawk Moth presents while simultaneously convincing all of Paris that she's the good guy.

She and her best friend Alya are some of the only people in Paris publicly taking a stand against Hawk Moth. Her crush is the mayor's son, the very mayor who endorsed her enemy. And the Guardian refuses to clarify what happened or how they got there — leaving her confused of what's true and what's a lie.

One thing's for certain, though: Marinette will not back down.
