Summary
Maybe the moon smiles down at him when he’s not looking, Katsuki ponders a bit. Scratching lazily at the skin on his wrist, the shirt he picked out being pushed around underneath the kids uniform. A door opens, creaky and well used. Probably sticky with old oil, tainted by the weird glue that’s alway in preschool classrooms.
But the door is open which means someone is here, someone new. Katsuki knows because the steps are different, the air is changing. More saturated, like moss and adolescent leaves.
Izuku Midoriya.
(Katsuki will later find out that the kanji in his name mean forest, mountains and green. will later etchasketch that name along with his because the earth needs the sun. all the stars glowing and bright. They all mellow in comparison.)

Summary
Katsuki is about to scoff. About to laugh in the place that is Here and not on a hospital bed. Because Katsuki has watched the seasons change, has watched the yellow leaves curl around themselves and die as they do every year.
But the wall is in front of him, reflecting in that way that glass does. And it's cracked in the middle, spiderwebbed fractures that permeate and disturb the overall smooth exterior. Katsuki presses his palm against it, forgetting the nurse in the room, forgetting the list of things he doesn't want to think about. Instead He thinks about his mom, about his shoebox and about that ugly fucking plant that’s been shedding leaves and spilling dirt since it arrived. And Katsuki, with all his remembrance and rage, pushes hard.
