June 17, 1996
Hall of Prophecy, The Department of Mysteries

The predictions made by Seers were stored in a chamber high as a church, very cold, and full of nothing but towering shelves covered in small, dusty, glass orbs. They glimmered dully in the light issuing from candle brackets set at intervals along the shelves, their flames burning blue. On one aisle, several of the long untouched glass orbs shattered when they were thrown from their shelves to the stone ground below.

Two figures, pearly white as ghosts, fluid as smoke, unfurled themselves from the fragments of broken glass upon the floor and each began to speak. Their voices vied with each other, so that only fragments of what they were saying could be heard.

"... at the Solstice will come a new ..." said the figure of an old, bearded man.

"... and none will come after ..." said the figure of a young woman.

The two figures that had burst from the shattered spheres melted into thin air. Nothing remained of them or their erstwhile homes but fragments of glass upon the floor.
