Summary
It all hits a little close to home, Behrad thinks as they head back from Ray’s old neighborhood to the ship, kid-Ray taking home a baby alien, and the bullies saying things like, “I can’t believe he thinks we’re actually friends.”
It reminds him a lot of his own childhood.

Summary
He’s never really been all that interested in history, which he regrets a little bit now that he’s time-travelling on a regular basis. But now, the novelty of time travel is beginning to wear off, and Behrad is getting restless. All he can think about is his parents-- about what they’ll think when they find their house ransacked and the family heirloom missing, about how he’s always lied about actually attending his classes, and even about Zari, who he hasn’t had a civil conversation with in years.

Summary
“Behrad…” Amaya says slowly, raising one skeptical eyebrow, unimpressed, “Are you high?”
“Okay, yes, I am.” He admits. “But that’s not the point-- you need to relax. And we’re going to meditate-- not with our totems, but with these.”
Behrad pulls out a box from under his bed and shows her his collection of crystals. The look she gives him is so disinterested, it’s almost comical.
“I think I would rather you had offered me some of your marijuana.” She deadpans.

Summary
Jax looks back over his shoulder, towards where young Stein walked out to find the jumpship. Then, he gives Behrad a determined nod and follows the professor out.
Behrad sets his own controller aside with a sigh and runs a hand through his hair. There has to be a loophole, somewhere, some way to change things without upsetting the timeline. He hasn’t forgotten that Amaya is planning to go home and die with her village, and he hasn’t given up on stopping her. So, maybe, if they can save Stein, that’ll put them one step closer to saving her, too.

Summary
It doesn’t make any sense. He heads for the engine room again, running through the facts in his head. He’s had that conversation on the bridge before, every time ending with Ray falling flat on his face. Nobody else has noticed anything weird, and he’s pretty sure that this isn’t a weirdly realistic dream or weed-induced hallucination. The engine room is the same as it was the first time-- every single thing he’d tweaked and adjusted has been reset to its original position, including that bundle of wires he’d been trying to untangle. The panel with the orange lights still has the tube full of glowing blue fluid, and this time, he points it away from his face and towards the floor, just before it sprays the fluid out.
Then, the ship rumbles, and this time, he’s sure of what’s about to happen.
“Oh, mamma mia,” He braces himself as fiery explosions fill the room with a searing heat and blinding light. “Here I go again.”

Summary
“Sorry, G.” He winces, glancing up at the ceiling, before raising the wrench and aiming for the glowing green helixes of Gideon’s systems. But just before he can swing downwards to do any damage, a familiar voice comes in from behind him, stopping him cold.
“You really never did have a knack for precision, outside of the kitchen.”
He whips around to a seemingly empty engine room, lit intermittently with flashes of green and orange and blue, but he hears the click of high-heels against the metal floors, and his sister walks out from behind some of the machinery.
“Zari.”

Summary
“Wally, Behrad, this is Jonah Hex.” Sara gestures to the man. Wally offers a gloved peace-sign in his direction. Hex looks Behrad up and down, his gaze piercing.
“I like your hat.” Behrad says, lamely.
“Thank you.” Hex says, not breaking eye-contact. After a moment too long, Behrad clears his throat awkwardly and turns away, glancing at Wally, who’s giving him a knowing look. Behrad tries his best to convey what-the-heck-just-happened via facial expression, but Wally just waggles his eyebrows in response. Very helpful.

Summary
Beyond Ray’s unusual gloom, Mick seems grumpier than he normally is-- though right now, he’s downing flutes of champagne like shots, which is pretty standard-- and Sara’s been antsy about keeping Ava off the whole severed dragon head thing. Nate still hasn’t quite come back from dropping Amaya off in Zambesi, and Behrad can see it in the way his smile doesn’t quite reach his eyes like it used to when she was on the ship.
And maybe he’s changed, too, but just hadn’t noticed it.
Now that Mallus isn’t hanging over their heads, and the totems have done their job, and especially now that they’re done fixing anachronisms, maybe something has changed for Behrad, too. He’s sure he’s been acting a little differently since Aruba, actually, because he hasn’t forgotten the not-Mithra severed dragon head that Constantine brought them, and he’s still not sure if he should tell the team about Dragon Girl or if he should keep quiet, because that’s a spoiler for their future and if he tells them he might do something really stupid, like accidentally prevent his own birth or something.

Summary
It’s sick, really, Amaya’s face twisted into sneers and her voice distorted into taunts. Amaya’s gone, back in Zambesi in the 1940s, alive and well, but also long-dead before Behrad’s parents even immigrated to the United States, which is confusing because even after months, he doesn’t know if he’s supposed to celebrate the fact that she got to live out a peaceful life in her village, or if he’s supposed to mourn her death. And he can’t do much of either when someone who looks and sounds just like Amaya is… defiling her memory, or something-- he doesn’t even know what to call it, as the shapeshifter sticks their tongue out and gives him the middle finger in a distinctly non-Amaya-like behavior.

Summary
The first thing that Behrad notices after they’ve passed through that wave of light is that everything is bigger. Not quite as big as everything is when you get shrink-Ray-ed, but big enough that the console is now above his eyeline, which is not something he’s used to at his height. Then, he tries to stretch upwards to see through the window and places a hand on the console, and tries very, very hard to come up with any explanation as to why instead of hands, he has paws.

“Pshh, no, of course not.” Nate scoffs. “That would be crazy. Us, dating? That would be weird.”
“Yeah.” Behrad agrees, laughing awkwardly. Why did he even ask?! “So weird.”
“Totally platonic. Just two bros. Going to a gala together. As friends.”
Yeah, that won’t be weird at all.

Summary
“Why don’t you talk to Nate? Tell him how you feel?” Mona suggests, so earnestly that it almost makes him want to do it. But he can’t-- it’s all caught up in their lie, and Nate’s certainly in no place to be thinking about dating Behrad of all people, even if Sara says that he said he’s interested. For all Behrad knows, they could both just be confused, maybe too wrapped up in their fake relationship to be able to tell the difference between real and fake feelings for each other.
“Oh, boo.” Charlie complains.
“That’s a terrible idea.” Sara agrees.
“I don’t-- you guys-- I can’t believe I’m having this conversation.” Behrad buries his face in his hands. “Can we just go get dressed and get on with the mission?”

Summary
“Yep. That’s Mithra. And my sister. Looks like she’s always known how to make an entrance.”
“What’s her name?” Nate asks, and Behrad bites his lip. It’s ridiculous, he knows, but he’s gotten this far without any of the team knowing anything about his sister, and part of him thinks that once they learn even a little bit about her, it’ll be a slippery slope back to him being Dragon Girl’s brother again. Which is silly, because these are his friends, the best friends he’s ever had. He’s spent almost two years on this team, finally out of her shadow, and that should be enough for him to believe that knowing about Zari won’t change that. He should have more faith in his friend–, but then again, maybe it was never his friends that were the problem.
“Zari.” He says, instead of saying any of that.
