Summary
“This is our cave,” Wen Kexing says. “We can fuck where we want.”
Zhou Zishu murmurs an admonishment and Wen Kexing’s eyes soften. Xie’s stomach writhes, watching this. These two men should have killed each other on sight—the spymaster and the assassin chief. Instead they played out their own storybook romance up and down the Central Plains, shattering years of Xie's ambitions in the process.
And if that weren’t enough, they’re immortals. Untouchable gods.
The pure unfairness of it all makes him laugh.
(Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu save the Scorpion King from the snow. He kind of wishes they hadn't.)

Summary
Xie can’t be much younger than Wen Kexing, but there is something so vulnerable about him, so soft. It’s an act, of course, but a masterful one. He doesn’t know how to speak without playing an angle, which Wen Kexing both respects and resents. He’s had enough of schemes to last him ten lifetimes.
(life in the world armory a few months after xie's rescue)
