Slowly, Hunter emerged from the shadows and stepped into the circle with Luz. He was dressed in his Golden Guard uniform though he left the mask off.
“What’s he doing here?” Luz asks unkindly, addressing Belos but glaring at Hunter. He wanted to glare back, to say something derisive, but he couldn’t bring himself to do so. His heart was pounding underneath his armor. He wished she would just escape and get as far away from the castle as possible so he wouldn’t have to do this.
Belos chuckled at her tone. “My nephew is essential for my plans to come to fruition, my dear.” Hunter wrapped on arm around his middle, self-consciously. He tried to make himself as small as possible; Maybe then the human would stop looking at him.
