Summary
Ambassador Spock comes to Counselor Ezri Dax for his routine cognitive evaluation and what he hopes will be a welcome, if brief, respite from an exhausting assignment that it seems only he can do. What he finds is a young Ferengi Starfleet officer languishing under a manipulative captain in a soul-destroying post, and his stubborn refusal to leave either.
The last thing Spock wants is to add mentorship to his already massive list of responsibilities, but Counselor Dax thinks each of them has something the other is searching for. And the more time Spock spends looking into the young lieutenant, the more he suspects there might be something to an old symbiote's hunch.
