When they were only three days from King’s Landing, Jaime sighed and said, “You know no one can know. She can’t know,” and Brienne’s heart sank.
The first and obvious reason was that, despite the year spent in captivity, he was still Lord Commander of the Kingsguard and therefore subject to the sacred order’s vows, no matter how easily he could ignore them.
