Summary
As much as he says he gets annoyed by Dave's antics, Karkat Maryam still cares about that idiot. It's a travesty, seeing that he gets himself into so much trouble because of his bullshit. But that's partially why Karkat's here. For some forsaken reason, Dave's a demon magnet, despite not seeing the multitudes of shadows following him. Karkat's not one to speak, but at least he knows how to deal with them.
When his best friend of nine years tells him that he's going on a road trip to meet his sister after 15 years, Karkat almost feels obligated to go with him. If only to keep him safe from himself.
Little did he know that would be more literal than he thought.
