Summary
On the way over to the willow tree, Nicki starts thinking and the adventure of driving out in her brother’s car starts to feel less like an adventure and more like a problem. Juniper Creek doesn’t have a music store--it has a recording studio, and her family has guitars and a grand piano and the Grant Family Singers, but it doesn’t have anywhere you can buy CDs. So they’re going to have to drive off the compound and into one of the little towns dotted around, and Nicki can count on her fingers the number of times she remembers leaving Juniper Creek. She feels disobedient, somehow, even though she hasn’t directly been told she can’t. But she hasn’t asked for permission, either.
