Summary
An hour or so out of town, Michelle gets hit with an almost incapacitating wave of oh my god what have I just done.
Her phone’s been ringing off the hook since she left Seattle; about forty miles back, she finally remembered she could turn the sound off. At some point, she knows she’s going to have to answer her brother’s calls, because if he doesn’t shut up and listen to her for once, he may end up calling the cops on her, and while a week ago, a short stint in the local clink for the sake of justice wouldn’t have been much more than inconvenient, now she has some real incentive to stay out of trouble. And that incentive also happens to be the exact reason why she might get arrested in the first place.
“I guess I kinda stole you, huh?” she says aloud with a short, slightly hysterical laugh. The werewolf curled up on a pile of blankets on her front seat raises his head, ears pricked intelligently. He gives a low whine, and Michelle corrects herself, “Kidnapped you. I kidnapped you, didn’t I, Reggie?”

Summary
Luke turns to Willie, rigid and still next to him. “Will?” he tries, over the crowd, and Willie doesn’t even glance his way. He’s staring back at the fighter in the ring, eyes wide, lips parted. It’s not just shock Luke smells now, it’s something else, lots of things, actually, none of them anything Luke has felt from Willie before. He doesn’t know how to separate them out from each other, just that Willie’s having lots of feelings Luke doesn’t understand. “Will, what’s going on? Who is that guy?”
Willie’s voice is almost too quiet to be heard over all the sounds around them, but Luke knows how to zero in when Willie won’t speak up. Still, he’s not expecting it when Willie murmurs, “He’s mine."

Summary
They make eye contact, and for a long time, Luke feels like nothing exists except him and Alex— not the woods around them, or their friends back at the campsite half a mile away. Not the setting sun, or the pain in his knee, or the years of misery they both had to go through to get here. Just Luke, sitting somewhere safe, and Alex looking at him.
And then Alex says, “Come on,” and pushes himself to his feet. “This is gonna suck, but just… don’t make me drop you.”

Summary
They have a house now, with beds and blankets and food, and Reggie does these intricate drawings of the sky each morning and pastes them on the fridge for everyone to see, and they don’t have to worry about being blasted by electricity or starving on the side of the road or being beaten to death by angry wolves three times their size (their nightmares might say otherwise, but they know they don’t have to worry about it), but that doesn’t make the weather stop changing. And it doesn’t make the changes hurt any less.
