Summary
Kanan stood with Ezra held more securely in his strong arms than before. Those fine-boned arms wrapped around Kanan’s neck, which made Ezra’s entire torso press tight against Kanan’s body. The long blue fin draped over one of Kanan’s arms but instead of hanging limp, this time Ezra curled the end around behind Kanan’s back. Kanan told himself Ezra was only trying to keep a secure hold while being hoisted through the air, but his traitorous heart whispered that Ezra was seeking out as much contact as possible. That he wanted to be held close. It was certainly an intimate position.
Despite the fabric of Kanan’s t-shirt separating them, he could feel where Ezra’s belly pressed against him, that gentle swelling firm rather than soft, with the eggs filling him.
Ezra is a young merman about to lay his first clutch of eggs. Kanan is a human fisherman who's accidentally befriended a mer. Ezra comes to Kanan for help through the painful experience.

Summary
Mate. The reminder of what they're doing tonight sends another tremble of want through Kanan's muscles and a swoop through his stomach. Ezra's asked Kanan to mate him, to breed him, to give life to his next clutch of eggs. They're going to be fathers together. Lovers across the boundaries of species, of land and water.
Ezra and Kanan decide to have sex and start a family. There's a bit of a miscommunication when mer and human bodies end up being more different they expected, but they figure things out. They're too in love (and lust) to not make it work.
