Summary
Diluc wasn't sure how everything went wrong. One minute he's celebrating his 18th birthday and the next his father is dead, he's no longer a Knight, and now his little brother is claiming to be a traitor. He honestly didn't know what to think at this point.
The one thing he did know was that he didn't want to be alone.
After everything that had just happened, he couldn't bare it.
He couldn't lose his baby brother too.
(Basically that night in the rain if Diluc stopped and thought for a minute before attacking Kaeya)

Crepus was dead
His father was dead
Kaeya didn't know how to process this. To process the fact that the man that took him in was no longer amongst the living. Couldn't process the fact that he had felt relief that his father had died without knowing the truth about his youngest. That Kaeya would never have to face the inevitable rejection and abandonment from a second father. Could not process the crushing guilt that immediately followed. He truly was a monster, wasn't he?
As a knight he was well aware of what must be done to monsters.
He just needed to tell the one remaining member of his family his most carefully kept secret.
He needed to tell Diluc the truth.
Then it would all be over.
