“Don’t— don’t go. Please.” His voice cracks, and he’s staring at the floor again.
Aymeric makes the mistake of stopping, sitting down again, tilting his head and leaning in to get another peek at his face. He puts a hand on Linden’s shoulder over the thin silk, squeezes it gently. “I’m not leaving.” Never, he thinks stupidly, and swallows a lump. “May I light the fire for you?”
Linden sighs, and rubs his eyes with the heel of his free hand. He opens his mouth like he wants to say something, blinking like an owl. Then he slumps forward until his forehead touches Aymeric’s with a little thump.
