“I really liked that latte you made, I ended up finishing it all.” Lloyd scratched at his cheek, the confession sprinkled in with praise; “How’d you make it so good?”
“Nothing special, it was a regular old latte.” You shrugged, handing him the receipt for the amount.
“It was a perfect sweetness.” He tapped at his lips, reminiscing yesterday's taste.
“Just added some sugar to offset that bitterness,” you chimed back at him, a crinkle around your eyes.

Sweet moments slowly danced in the past… Did he miss you as much as you did him? ‘Ugh, stop being dramatic! He's finally coming back!’ You stood up from the stool, the metal legs screeching against the tile as you cringed. Both at that sound and the noise in your head. ‘Let's just do this fucking cake!’
But the world and her earthy wonder had different plans for you. The bell chimed, and you had to put down the piping bag, hastily smearing off the colorful frostings you got on your apron. You throw away the napkin in the waste bin and head out the door to the front, and stop. Awkwardly standing there, giving a sheepish wave in a gray-black hoodie, was- "Cole?"
“Heh, surprised?” Your friend said in a tiny voice, hesitant to show himself to you, trying to make his mountaining form smaller… He’s grown bigger from when you last saw him all those years ago. All while you stayed here, making cakes in this small town in the mountains. Did he see it too from over there? “Been awhile, huh?”
