Bucky did not know what was happening here … until Barton leaned in and knocked their temples together with all the aggressive affection of the bastard cat snuggling up to Bucky’s meanest arm. “Right, babe?”
Babe, Bucky very nearly mouthed the word to himself.
“Yyyyes,” Bucky agreed as his brain caught up to speed. “We been renovating a floor in the tower for the two of us—our place, His and His closets, home theater, dad den, the whole, er … shebang, I guess you’d call it nowadays. His place is too small and, uh, I been Steve’s roommate for, frankly, longer than is probably healthy for our friendship.” He chuckled.

“We’re, uh, yeah, designing and building our dream apartment,” Bucky tacked on hastily, wondering if he’d need to install a back stairway for Barton to have access to his new place in case of future unannounced home visits, or—
His thoughts temporarily derailed when Barton gently patted his butt.
