Summary
It's difficult to establish a balance between using her gift to keep the people safe while respecting their privacy, especially when she has such limited control over what secrets she hears. Over the years, her parents establish a few ground rules - if someone says it's a secret, unless someone is being hurt, and children can't keep secrets for grown-ups.
Dolores doesn't mean to break the rules, but eventually, she's too far in to stop.

Summary
Dolores had been Bruno's favourite since she was a child. They shared the unique trait of having gifts that only allowed them to know more about the world, not to change it directly through their magic - and the unique burden of their gift telling them things they might be better off knowing. After a decade of living in the walls, unable to communicate with anyone who lacked super hearing, Isabela expected her Tio to be closer to Dolores than any other Madrigal - but that couldn't have been further from the truth.
Dolores and Bruno were avoiding each other, and Isa wanted to know why.
Or: Alternate ending to "i knew he never left" with a two-person reprise of "We Don't Talk About Bruno" because taking high school drama class has ruined me and for some reason I think this is coping.

Summary
(Read others in series first for context.)
Tio Bruno was found dead in his room early the next morning, sending the entire family into chaos. He had drowned in his own blood, bleeding internally from the throat. The familia was desperate for answers, but without a medic other than Julieta, nobody really knew how to identify the cause. It would be two full weeks before a local from the Encanto - the man usually charged with identifying the cause of death when unexplained bodies showed up - discovered a cactus thorn lodged into his throat.
Isabela regretted nothing.
But nobody knew why Isabela regretted nothing. All they saw was a dead triplet and a former golden child who seemed almost proud of having murdered him, and if it wasn't for Julieta's protests, they would have exiled her. In the aftermath, Dolores has to grapple with her feelings, while the rest of the family struggles to understand what has happened.

The Guzmans are (again) having dinner with the Madrigals to get to know Mariano's girlfriend. Dolores insists that this dinner doesn't have to be perfect, but her cousins are determined not to "ruin" it - even if that means keeping their secrets bottled up for a little longer.

Summary
Bruno was damn lucky that even after a decade of absence, seeing Bruno's face was enough to put Luisa into fight-or-flight(-or-freeze-or-fawn). And even luckier that Luisa's brain, in that moment, decided a freeze response would be the best to keep her safe. Even without her powers, Luisa was strong, and a physical confrontation could have easily hurt him in a way Julieta could no longer heal. And flight or fawn would have been visible in a way that would have prompted the family to ask questions Bruno couldn't answer. Not without, at best, getting chased out of the Encanto.

Summary
(Read others in series first for context.)
The Madrigals understood that Bruno's prophecies were rarely what they seemed, that his visions would obscure important details through omission. Mariano, as foretold, had been betrothed to another - not married, not even technically engaged, just betrothed. And that promise, even broken, had been enough to fulfil the prophecy. Yet somehow he was still just out of Dolores's reach.

Summary
(AU of "i can always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling" / "um, bruno..." in which Luisa discloses before Dolores. Credit to Artsyspikedhair for the idea behind this.)
Julieta couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her beloved hermanito, her Bruno, he would never do this. But Luisa wouldn't lie about something like this. Surely, though, surely Bruno isn't so evil, surely he wouldn't commit such acts out of malice. Surely he was just ... sick. And Julieta could heal sickness, couldn't she?
