Life at sea is hard and cruel. The ocean is unyielding in its efforts to take down those who dare to cross its waters in the name of a faceless king it does not recognize – what does the sea care for the rule of men. Months spent on a ship leave a sailor sore at the bone and cold to the touch, numb. Coming to land after a long journey across the Atlantic, sailors step out of their vessel in desperate search of pleasures to bring some warmth to their veins. Alcohol for the health and women for the spirit, plentiful of which can be found in just about any tavern in town.

Summary
“It feels like handling something that wasn’t meant for you.” His name had been Mark or Josh or Cameron, Jonah didn’t bloody care at this point. The mark, the fourth iteration of it, pulsed rhythmically on his shoulder, sending flashes of hot pain down Jonah’s spine. In that moment, Jonah hated it, loathed is, because he had finally come to the realization of why Mordechai had given it to him. Mordechai had been a cruel monster to his bitter end, refusing Jonah all of his life the one thing he needed to survive. And then he had made sure that no one could give it to him either.

In his youth, Jonah Magnus fucks around with a werewolf and finds out. Dealing with the repercussions all his life has him reluctant to entertain the newest pup out of the Lukas bloodline.

Summary
Three snapshots of the relationship dynamics between Jonah Magnus and his unhealthy habits, staring Mordechai Lukas
His endless search for eternal life eventually leads Jonah to the doorstep of a creature which seems to have the solution. After hearing him out, Jonah decides becoming something unfeeling and reliant on other humans to sustain his everlasting life, as well as the crucial bonds necessary to make that come to pass are not at all worth it, and politely declines. However, he finds himself enthralled by the brand of companionship Lukas is able to offer him, so he indulges a few too many visits.
When his plans eventually fail on him, how else should he take the gift given but by throwing a tantrum?
