Summary
"And what do you ask of me?" She asks and she is in pain. What does she ask of her? What would she ask of Dream if she let herself imagine?
There are too many answers for that question. She would ask for friendship. She would ask for care, but not for herself. She would ask her friend to take better care of herself, to love herself more. She would ask for her to see herself the same as she does.
Hob would ask her for love.
She can feel herself waking up, this dreamy reality escaping through her fingers as she keeps breathing into Dream's neck. They have been static for a while now, long enough that the music has stopped and the guests are wondering what is happening. Long enough for Hob's heart to feel like stopping.
"Anything you would let me. I would ask anything as long as you would let me." She whispers, shaking. On her waist, Dream's hand tightens, trying to stop her from disappearing. Her eyes are closed against her neck, keeping the tears at bay, and her heart is thrashing, wanting to break free.
"Hob..." Dream starts and that's all that her heart can take.
