It wasn’t that Ghost thought that Soap was incompetent. The man had a tendecy to get into things that were bigger that he could handle. Through Rodolfo he found out, that they took care of Graves while he was in the tank... Bringing guns to a tank fight was taken literally. Through Soap managing to place C4 close to it the whole time while Rodolfo gave back-up. This bought feelings forth, which he put away nicely into a box in de depth of his mind, after Las Almas.

It was a known fact that a lot of people believed Soap to be… Simpleminded. Not the brightest. And while Soap would not say he was brilliant, stupid was also not something that would fit him. However Soap learned early on, that people say a lot more around people who appear dumb. And while he got a lot of things thrown at him, there was a reason he was the youngest who passed the SAS selection. Sometimes he knew even König and Ghost would underestimate him. Which was fine and all, after all he perfected the dumb, unknown look.
