“Inej,” he greets, turning to face the girl who was his wraith and so much more. For someone who’s been at sea for the last month, Inej looks surprisingly unchanged. Her hair is coiled up, not down in a braid and she smells of salt, but other than that Kaz could almost fool himself into thinking things were back how they were, before the Ice Court heist. He wonders if she’s thinking the same thing about him. He wonders if she’s felt his absence like a constant ache like he has for her.
