And yes, yes he did decide to answer it back for pure spite. Hence why he is in this frustrated mood.
Ike found a website that offers pen pal, and find a letter from his pen pal by the mailbox after a week. They somehow began to send letter to each other and him, falling in love? Oh, no.

Summary
Rias is said to be the immortal, unbeatable soldier.
Those are the rumors that go around, on how he always returns with light injuries, triumph victories. The hero of the battle, one would call. Because he is, as he dives into the flames and returns unscathed, as he shoots all the enemy from point black without any gunshot wounds on him. And he's praised, cheered, and they sang for him. Rias, the hero.
A brave soldier, the unbeatable, the immortal.
No, it's just that there's an angel.
Literally, by his side.
Or, Rias is a soldier in war and Box is his guardian angel. A neverending life of battle and war, and the gentle hold of Box keeping him alive and it is painful.
Rias is tired, and he just wish to end it all.
(While Box seeked for love, and he received none.)
