“You’re taking the couch.”
There was no room for argument in his voice. Shimazaki’s eyebrows rose in surprise, but he otherwise didn’t say anything in response to Hatori’s petty tone.
Because what could he say? No amount of begging, pleading, knees-on-the-floor apologizing could change Hatori’s opinion of him at that moment.
“I work from home and the office, and tomorrow’s one of the office days. If I come back and see that anything has been tampered with, I won’t hesitate to dial Joseph immediately. Are we clear?”
“I kind of like this side of you - very commanding. It’s pretty hot,” Shimazaki replied with a smirk, completely skirting around the blatant anger and distrust.
Hatori paused from where he’d been walking around the small apartment, tidying up, and Shimazaki could tell the man was glaring at him. His smirk fell to something more neutral.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. You and I both know I didn’t come back to sabotage you or fuck shit up again, though. I couldn’t sustain myself out there anymore, and… I decided it was time to come back. See how things worked between us, you know?”
Thanks to his heightened hearing, he heard Hatori scoff, then mutter, “...such a fucking asshole.”
