“Just indulge me, Cody, please?” Obi-Wan takes another step, drawing to a gentle stop in front of Cody. He doesn’t touch him, not yet, instead he settles his hand on the hitch of his hips, twisting the raised edge of his tunic between his fingers, while the other hangs loose at his side. There’s a sweet scent in the air, something floral that reminds him of the tin of tea on Obi-Wan’s desk, an unfortunate dent in the centre to match with the worn shiny rim and handle on the lid.Cody lowers his gaze to Obi-Wan’s hands, worrying at his lower lip. “Sticky.”

The holoscreen soundlessly rumbles through a news clip in the background, the Nautolan host drawing one of her tendrils forward to demonstrate the fresh tattoo she had gotten before Quinlan swipes his hand in the air and the channel changes.“I was watching that,” Cody says, his head reclined to rest against the back of the sofa, his eyes barely open, a gleam of his iris reflecting the multi-coloured lights of the commercial. He’s comfortably rumpled, his shirt an old washed-comfortable one of Quinlan’s with a faded image of a set of archival forms and his trousers rolled up at the cuffs. There’s several inches of pleasantly soft belly on display, broken up only by a strip of dark hair and a collection of scars peeking over the curve of his hip.

“How’s your ankle?” Cody asks, his dark eyes crinkling in amusement in the sweep of shadows across their kitchen table. Initially, Ben takes the parts scattered over their kitchen table to be blaster parts and something cold slips down his spine, but the thought is corrected in the next moment as Cody picks up a distorted coil and begins to try and smooth it back into compliance.
“It’s fine.” Ben limps as delicately as he can, trying to project serenity as if he does this all the time.
