Summary
Astara, usually going by Asta, didn't grow up with much. Very little even by peasant standards. But, so did Yuno; they did grow up together after all. And Recca, and Nash, and later will Aruru, and Hollo once they get older.
Father Orsi, and later Sister Lily, did amazing with what little they had for six children. Life growing up at the bottom of the food chain isn't ideal for anyone... but Asta wouldn't change it for anything. Not when it could mean she never met Yuno–
rival, best friend, brother–and never come across the fact that while she didn't have any mana at all... She had something just as magical despite being magic's antithesis.Anti Magic. It was a struggle in itself growing up with the non magic... but she's on par with Yuno now. She will become the Wizard Queen, and yes. Wizard. Queen. That was the whole point of the title after all!
And with Yuno, come hell–literally–or high water–figuratively–she will make this a world where her family–old and new–will never have to suffer again. If only she can get it through her thick skull that everyone she loves wishes that for her too.

Summary
Asta lives a simple life. Wake up, go to school, go to work, go home, repeat. He's barely even 20, but he's determined to help provide for his family still living in the small little country town, Hage. It's a bit of a struggle, but he has Yuno with him, so it isn't so bad.
If only his brother would stop spending so much of his mystery money on him instead of sending it to their family; it doesn't matter that he didn't grow up with the same things as everyone else in their little church!
And why are so many people being idiots and getting hurt around his apartment? Some of these people really need to be more careful!

Or a Modern AU where the Magic Knights are a crime organization and Asta is a sleep deprived, overstressed, and slightly ✨traumatized✨ college student working to do what's best for his family. Yuno's a part of the Golden Dawn Mafia and has a bit of a brother complex in his desire to treat Asta well, like as it should have been when they were kids... then the Black Bulls Gang gets meets the (feral) sunshine that is Asta.
Oh boy, this is going to be a wild ride.

Summary
A storm had rolled in. The wind was strong and ripped leaves and baby branches from the trees. Lightning flashed behind the demon skull, lighting the empty eye sockets and the old statue on top. The rain poured down in sheets, filling up the dirt roads and flooding the rivers.
A light flickered deep in the forest outside the border. Mother is unconcerned about it all, the blossoms and the stars telling her good things will come of it.
knock-knock-knock
Mother looks up from the wood she was carving. She opens the door and there stood the outcast of Hage, Yuno.
"Medicine Mother, please help me on my way," Yuno pleads through her sobs. Mother blinks and looks back at the fallen blossoms still on her table.
She turns back and stares into terrified gold eyes, hearing the angry cries beneath the booming thunder. Good things will come of this storm. Not just for her, it seems.

Or, what if there lived a shaman in Hage who took in Yuno as a student? What if Hage hated (is scared of) Yuno for having so much more magic than the rest of them? What if magic was a lot more entwined with the world than what people thought?
